Gateways by Michele Casteel

I received a copy of Gateways by Michele Casteel to read and review. Gateways is supernatural thriller geared toward young adults but adults will enjoy it also.

Gateways is centered around a group of Senior High School girls and their experience with a Ouija board and evil spirits. Being a Christian I don't believe in ghosts but I do believe in evil spirits or entities and that the occult is a "gateway" to these evil spirits. With that belief I was a bit hesitant to read Gateways but swallowed hard and read the book in one sitting of about an hour.

I must say I was pleased with the ending and the way it was handled. The author not only told a story but also gave a lesson in the telling which I think is very well needed. It tells the dangers of delving into the occult and yes a Ouija board and séance are forms of occult.

In the beginning of the book there's a disclaimer that states:

**The stories in this book are based on actual experiences. The names have been changed to protect those involved. Please DO NOT use a Ouija board at any time. Please DO NOT conduct a séance without a trained professional.

After finishing the book I contacted the author, Michele Casteel to ask a few questions. Below are the questions and her answers.

1. In the beginning it says the stories are based on actual experiences and then has warning about not using a Ouija Board or conducting a Séance. Were these personal experiences? Yes these were personal experiences.

2. I was a bit hesitant about the book since I'm a Christian who was saved in 1995. I did like the way it ended with using prayer and the word of God to fight the evil spirit. Is this something you were raised to believe? How much does faith play into your writing? This is something that I believe in strongly. In this particular book, faith plays a very important role.

3. This looks like it's going to be a series, Can readers look forward to the next book in the near future? This is indeed the first in a series. The second book is currently in the revision stage. It is due out by the end of May. The third book is outlined and ready for when I can devote my full attention to it. It will be released by the end of this year if not sooner.

To purchase a copy of Gateways for $5 with an introductory offer of free shipping and 40% off your next order go to Casteel Publishing. While you're there be sure to check out their newest addition Stowaways as well as finding out how you can get your story published. They're also looking for young authors ages 5-12 for a new kids book.

Oh this abounds like an interesting book. When reading thrillers I prefer YA novels, as they have the dramatic tension without any overly graphic descriptions.
